Not many people are sailing because it requires a lot of concentration and power. It’s sometimes dangerous and also it isn’t a chip sport, but the people who are sailing are discovering an unique experience. Only one week of sailing is an adventure that you will never forget redundant.
Even sleeping on a boat is something magical. It’s really a wonderful experience to wake up in the morning to the gentle swings of the waves and to feel the salty sea air in your lungs. To sail to a tiny beach on an remote island in the middle of the sea that looks like it was never touched by other human being and is inaccessible with any other vehicles or walking, is an experience that I always wish to repeat. But sailing isn’t as easy as it seems. Besides that, someone in the crew needs to have a sailing licence and a radio license. You need to know how to make sailing knots and and to steer the boat. It is very complicated to park the boat or to leave a marina and also things that look easy, like anchoring, require lots of skills and experience. Additionally, sailing is not always a safe sport. There are threats like MOB (man overboard). If someone falls in the water is very hard to bring him back especially in high winds or storms and there is always the danger of drowning. For me, sailing is more interesting and fun when you merge it with other sports like fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling or spearfishing. Is is pretty cool to go fishing while navigating or to hunt fish for a fresh meal prepared on the boat. If you go in wild places, the marine life is everywhere and the pollution doesn’t exist. You will be impressed how clear the water is. If someone offers me the chance to sail, I never refuse it. I recommend sailing, but keep in mind that sailing is not for everybody! |
